So I visited the doctor today and he said I may have a fracture in my T12 vertebrae.  For those like me without a degree in medicine thankfully google has many answers.  So if you look at the picture on the right the bottom purple one is where I may have the problem.

Now I can still walk and lift things and function, but the lingering pain is actually quite close to that area which makes me believe they may have found something.

If you read more on Google like here and here then you might get even more scared and realize how serious something like this could have been.

When I heard the news I have to admit I was really scared.  Scared enough that when I left the hospital I didn’t know where I was driving, I just drove.  Scared enough that while driving I nearly was in tears.  Scared enough that when I got home I couldn’t sleep it off and for those who know me I can pretty much sleep any where any time.

So for the time being it’s a waiting game.  More x-rays were performed today on the T12 area so hopefully results will come in soon.

It’s amazing what we take for granted in life, and how lucky I feel to have narrowly escaped an injury that perhaps someone not as fit or not as reactive might have sustained.

The hard part now is to take my head out of the dumps and get back on living my life…

  1. Thinking of you Sean. You are an inspiration. Be well.

Being scared isn’t such a bad thing as long as you turn it into commitment to healing. One simple truth is if you believe you will heal then you are giving your body permission to do it’s thing and it WILL repair the damage.

And while the body is doing what it does best maybe consider walking at a slower more relaxed pace, riding the odd elevator and just maybe leave that box where it is for another day.
