This week marks the one year anniversary of bringing our dog Enduro in to our family. Enduro, our dog, was a rescue from up North near Kitwanga, BC. We really love having a dog. Even though he’s a handful some days, he’s a great companion for us!

Enduro has made an impact

Enduro has an impact on both of us as individuals and on us as a family. Enduro is around when I’m traveling and he gives Tanya the confidence to hit the trails by herself without any worries. It also gives her a buddy to talk to when I’m not around too. Enduro is the ultimate trail dog. He loves to run and bike with both of us and there’s not a trail on the shore that he won’t go up OR down!

Brought us both closer together

One of the interesting things about Enduro coming in to our lives is that it has also brought Tanya and I closer together. Maybe because we went to all the training sessions together, or maybe because of the walks we take or maybe because we both have something to take combined “ownership” over. Who knows what it is, but we feel much more like a family now than a couple and for me that’s been great.

Previously more like roommates

Before Enduro came into our lives, we were almost more like roommates. We each had our thing we did, but we didn’t rely on each other as much. Of course we still hung out and had dates etc. but it just didn’t seem to be the same as it is now. By adding to our family, we have a combined responsibility that we both care about and that has brought us closer. We talk more, we communicate more, and because of all of this Tanya and I are even better friends than ever. I’m pretty proud of our family and feel really lucky to be a part of it.
