Tanya and I headed down to Oregon for most of our holidays and we couldn’t pass up heading to Bend. We had heard many great things about Bend and the Mountain Biking scene and we had to check it out. The trails proved to be much easier than expected, perhaps we’re spoiled by living on the North Shore, but the heat of interior Oregon was certainly made the trails more challenging. Hands down my favorite trail of the 3 days we spent in Bend was the McKenzie River Trail.
This trail is between Bend and Eugene and was absolutely fabulous. The trail started out with some very technical lava sections around clear lake and continued to be fairly technical all the way until the blue pools. From there it was pretty much smooth sailing all the way to the end of the trail. 13 miles of technical riding and 13 miles of flowing single track. 26 miles in 3 hours and 20 minutes. What an amazing day. Below are some pictures from the adventure.
